  According to the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), in fiscal 2013 ended March 31, 2013, 27 new active ingredients were registered for use in Canada, resulting in the registration of 34 new end-use products. 
  
  Of the 27 new active ingredients, 14 were biopesticides, 11 were conventional pesticides and 2 were antimicrobials. While those numbers in fiscal 2012 were 15 new ais, 8 biopesticides, 6 conventional pesticides and 1 antimicrobial. The conventional pesticides approved in 2013 includes fungicide tetraconazole from Isagro, insecticide sulfoxaflor from Dow AgroSiences, fungicide sedaxane from Syngenta and insecticide azadirachtin from the Canadian Forest Service, fungicide picoxystrobin from DuPont, bactericide kasugamycin (hydrochloride hydrate) from Arysta LifeSciences/Hokko Chemical, fungicide fluxapyroxad and ametoctradin from BASF, fungicide fluoxastrobin from Arysta/Bayer CropScience, fungicide fluopyram from Bayer CropScience, and herbicide pyroxasulfone from Kumiai Chemical.
  
  PMRA completed 3611 submissions in fiscal 2013, while those numbers were 2996 in fiscal 2012 and 3829 in fiscal 2011. As of March 31st 2013, 13 new ais were under joint review, including 5 conventional chemicals under global joint review.
  
  PMRA also recorded that 35 generic products were registered, including 21 technical or manufacturing products and 14 end-use products. Key active ingredient generics registered for agriculture include florasulam, fluroxypyr, glufosinate ammonium, glyphosate, imidacloprid and metribuzin. Regarding minor uses, 130 regulatory decisions were made resulting in 586 new minor uses registered, of which 20 were joint reviews or workshares. Additionally, 28 emergency registrations were granted by PMRA, of which six were new requests. In respect to post-market activities, PMRA initiated 22 re-evaluation programs, of which 11 were completed, resulting in amended product use conditions on approximately 276 end-use products.
